Uncertainty.

It seems like these economic times are hard for everyone, everywhere. I mean it is definitely affecting the Global economy that the U.S. is in a recession. Everyone, everywhere is feeling the strain and the pull of less cash-flow.

I live in Las Vegas, and never in my time here have I felt it as much as I feel it now. Even after the attacks on September 11th, we still bounced back. The economy wasn't falling like it is now. The service industry that I work in, depends on people wanting to spend their money. People are simply scared to do that. Who can blame them? I have felt the change in they way that people spend money as well. On top of all of this, people are losing their jobs. Hotel and Casino's are laying people off, hundreds at a time. The Nation is in a time of economic crisis.

Recently I have learned of a co-worker that had been with the company I work with for 3 years, who had been without incident and always did his work without question - was fired. No real explanation other than they thought he "wasn't performing." I gotta tell you , something like that doesn't make the rest of the staff feel very stable. I have watched the performance of my peers deteriorate due to their feelings about their stability in our workplace.

It's hard for me, as someone that needs his team to do a great job - to watch this happen. I just don't know what to do. I get frustrated and feel as though I am not doing what I can to keep the team motivated. So I keep up on my work related studies and do what I can to pass on the information I learn. I just don't know what else I can do. More on this later.
