Stir It Up!

This is actually Tom's Restaurant, NYC. Famous...

I spent my weekend having a great time with some of my closest friends and family. It was a good time.. amongst all the working I have been doing lately .. it was a welcome change of pace... even if it was still some form of being on the go.. I was at least having a little bit more fun. Previously I had worked about 12 shifts back to back.. and thankfully I am able to work that much if I like, but a break was in order. So I took off Friday, and Saturday and hit the town with a good buddy. We did a few of the Vegas-Scene kind f stuff.. nightclubs like THE BANK and had dinner at Fix @ The Bellagio. I work for THE BANK Nightclub, part-time.. and so going there was good. Got to see some of the guys I hadn't seen in awhile. Caught up with a few of them on what is happening around town. That place gets outrageously packed on the weekends! I have said before that it seems that the nightlife scene here is the only thing that hasn't suffered as much from the drop in the economy. The nightclub was a mad-house full with lots of women and drunk people being nuts and spending alot of money on drinking and debauchery.

The Restaurant "Fix" is the kind of restaurant that is designed to perpetuate 'the scene'.. Attractive staff, loud music playing and an open front that faces the casino, right next to the nightclub. It is actually run by The LIGHT Group. They run The Bank Nightclub and a few other night-life spots and restaurants around Las Vegas. It is trendy and loud.. with scantily clad female servers and bartenders.. and is normally not the kind of place that I would go for a good meal , but we were there to have a night out on the town so it was perfect. The food was good, the service was good and it really wasn't as expensive as you would expect. I mean.. it was about $80 per person when all was said and done, but that was with 4 cocktails, an appetizer of Lobster Tacos, two entrees and two side items. Not 'everyday' kind of spending.. but i t was quality and I liked it.

Back to work for me Sunday night (yesterday) and with it some of the craziness that I have been experiencing in my work life recently. For some reason I am attracting some strange guests in the restaurant. the other night a lady asked me a question, (about bread-service) and when I answered it.. she replied angrily with "WRONG ANSWER!".. If you could have seen the look on my face you would have wanted to laugh as much as I wanted to. Then she punished me and my team by leaving like $1.40 as a tip on $56...and it's like.. what is the point of that? I know you are angry and clearly have issues.. why spend ANY extra money making your point? just go someplace else. I am not in the practice of giving bad service.. i figure if I am not providing good service.then what is the point, ya know?.. But if you are having some personal issue, disrupting enough to treat your waiter like he/she is your enemy.. maybe you should just stay home! haha.. freaks!

Last night, I actually had a woman stand up at her table as I was taking an order of one of her guests... and tell me to "take my shit and shove it up my ass." LMFAO! I was shocked! .. and I don't shock too easily. I looked at her.. and I asked.. "uh.. what happened?" One of her guests said something to the effect of .. "yeah this happens..". Turns out she gambles in the casino alot, and is basically spoiled by the way the Casino hosts treat her. She called her host and claimed that I told her that she was ordering too much food and I cut her off while she was ordering.

Now clearly, the lady has issues.. and she was creating a situation that didn't actually exist.. aside from inside her head maybe. The thing is, for her to go out of her way to try and cause MORE trouble by attempting to get me in some form of trouble.. was completely irrational and just plain wrong. I am firm believer in what comes around, goes around.. so I am not too worried, and my supervisors saw how irrational she was acting... so I am not concerned for my job security on that front. It's just that people like that are the reason guests may get the wrong idea about an establishment. I work with some great people that do a great job, in a place that serves quality food ... and one crazy comes along and attempts to be an angry mess.. and everyone suffers. blah.

Anyway. All of that has past and it is a new day and a new shift. I am looking forward to a full week. The Summer season is here and I feel like this is the week that helps to define the next 3 months. With the Lion King now as the main show @ Mandalay Bay.. we will get some play from that crowd.. so that will help. For sure you will be hearing of my Summer adventures. I am looking forward to hearing about yours!
