TOP CHEF: The Masters in Las Vegas

So tonight is going to be interesting. This evening. RM SEAFOOD at MANDALAY BAY is hosting a viewing party for TOP CHEF MASTERS. This is especially exciting, because the owner/chef of the restaurant i work for - Rick Moonen.. was on the show this past Season. It is pretty exciting for the rest f us that work for him, because it has a brought alot of new energy to the place.

I will give you a brief history... Rick Moonen is a celebrated seafood chef and an early champion of sustainable fishing practices. Moonen graduated first in his class from the Culinary Institute of America and then went on to work at New York City’s La Côte Basque, Le Cirque and The Water Club where he commanded the kitchen for six years. He then became executive chef and partner at Oceana before he opened rm in New York, which earned three stars from the New York Times. In 2005 Moonen closed the New York rm in order to open Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood and r bar café at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. (Wikipedia)

This past couple of years has been especially exciting or Chef Rick. His cookbook Fish Without a Doubt: The Cook's Essential Companion, went to the top of the lists.. he was on Top Chef Masters and has been honored by Star Chefs.. and .. they even filmed a couple of episodes of TOP CHEF in RM Seafood this past season.. of which my big head may be seen eventually. (I served the judges) Though they may just want to edit that out..and I am OK with that! :)

Tonight there are already 300 people invited to come to the festivities alone, as well as the restaurant being open for regular business. I am looking forward to a fun night and I will post more about it asap. Photos to come! Hope to see some of you there. and for the rest of you.. stay tuned!
