Mid-July

It is Hot! An understatement usually in the Summer, by Las Vegas standards. Humid and hot... Yesterday left us here in The Valley with a heavy downpour for a couple of hours. It was refreshing and washed away the mess of the heated Vegas days and nights.. but soon after.. I mean immediately after the rain stopped.. it all turns to steam and humidity. It's like 105 degrees in the shade with a hot oven-like damp wind blowing in your face. The walk from my apartment to the laundry room felt like 120 degrees in the South of New Orleans. Ok, not that bad.. but unusually humid for this desert climate.

I have been working 6 days a week for the last few months, and it has been worth it, and somehow profitable. July is notoriously the slowest month for this town in terms of higher-end travelers and conventions. The fact that we didn't pick up in business until two months after the traditional busy season start, in January, makes this busy-ness that we have been experiencing.. very nice. With the first annual UFC Convention that was in town and held at Mandalay Bay.. along with various small events around town, I am happy to report that it has been a good Summer so far. I have seen some great deposits into my bank account, and I have still managed to have some fun while working all those hours.

A few late-night drinks and beers with the guys from work..and just a quality amount of time with myself to relax in the evenings after working a long day, make for a good Summer so far. Soon I will take a week or so of to relax before the Summer has officially ended. Most likely, I will be spending some time at my favorite faux beach .. the Moorea Lounge at the Mandalay Bay. So I am sure you will all be hearing about that! Until then.. see you on the next post!
